Welcome to my third grade classroom!
At the beginning of the year, I observed my mentor teacher implement both classroom and school expectations. Prior to these observations, I wouldn't have known that it takes 20 or so days for the students to know the routines. Everything, including how to turn papers in, had to be taught and modeled. As the days proceeded, my mentor teacher and I would warmly remind the students of the expectations and would occasionally reteach them. The school's PBIS team also welcomes the students by giving 20 minute introductions to different areas of the school, like the bathroom or on the bus. They emphasize how the students should act in each specific area. These stations were particularly important for my third graders because it is their first year in the intermediate school. I hope you enjoy becoming familiar with the classroom where I learned how to truly teach! |
